The Juneau Opioid Work Group (JOWG) was established in 2015 in response to concern over opioid and heroin use in the community. JOWG remains focused on tackling this issue on a variety of fronts. The goal of the group is to be a place for community members and service providers to share information about efforts to address substance use in Juneau including prevention approaches, treatment options, and recovery supports while also serving as a driving force behind initiatives to address heroin and prescription drug misuse such as the Alaska Partnerships for Success grant program.
